Rehearsal For Life

Rehearsal For Life is an innovative project developed in association with Blackburn Excellence in Cities programme and run by Talia Theatre. The scheme targets students, aged 11-16, at risk of exclusion from school or training, to work on life skills, confidence building and communication.

The project gives participants the opportunity to consider how they might fulfil their potential and interact more effectively with their teachers and peers through improved management of their emotions and behaviour.

We work with a group of 15 pupils for one week intensively and then a hold series of workshops over a 10 week period.

We also hope to extend this exciting project to more schools and if you would like to find out more, contact us now. We have Evaluation Reports available.

QFX at Darwen Library Theatre

For several years, Darwen Library Theatre's own youth theatre group, QFX, has been run by Talia Theatre on a Tuesday evening (8-12 year olds from 6pm to 7pm and 13 from 7.30pm to 9pm). The group is led by Talia Theatre Director James Beale, who has a great deal of experience of community outreach and educational activities with Talia.

The aim is to give the participants a basic understanding of a wide range of theatre skills, which they can use in a performance context. These include storytelling, Commedia dell'Arte, puppetry, accents, singing and comedy.

Participants also have the opportunity to be involved in a Summer production. In 2001, The Hobbit, performed in Bold Venture Park, Darwen, was a sell-out success and in 2002 the groups presented scenes from Oliver and The Crucible. At Christmas 2004, the group performed Dracula.

The youth theatre gives young people the chance to learn new skills, be creative, work as a team and it's a safe and fun place to go.

In September 2005, we will be running Youth Theatre for ages 5 - 8 years. Sessions will be FREE until Christmas!

School Specific Youth Projects

Talia can tailor youth theatre projects to suit your school. Pupils learn about theatre techniques such as Commedia dell'Arte, Improvisation, Slapstick and Biomechancis and then move on to script and vocal work, culminating in a presentation of their work over the term.

We have worked with many schools across the North West.

If you think your school could benefit from its own youth theatre or you have a specific production you would like to get off the ground, contact us now by clicking here.
